JOIN THE CREW
Winter and spring are our prime seasons for training and test flights, and we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to join the Scotair Balloons team. This is your chance to get hands-on experience with hot air balloons as we gear up for an exciting summer ahead!
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Flight Prep: Help set up the balloon for flight, including fueling, inflating, and assisting with pre-flight checks alongside the pilot.

Chase Crew: Follow the balloon on the ground in 4x4s, track its journey using maps, and maintain radio contact with the pilot throughout the flight.

Landing Assistance: Help liaise with landowners (a crate of beer usually does the trick!) and pack the balloon away safely after landing.
Once the job’s done, we often wrap up with a coffee or beer to celebrate—just another day of adventure!

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Willingness to get involved and embrace the adventure.

Over the age of 25 and have a full clean drivers licence.

Comfortable driving a 4x4 and towing a trailer off-road.

A great sense of humour and team spirit!
All other training will be provided—just bring your enthusiasm and readiness to learn.
Final Notes:

Our base is in Libberton, South Lanarkshire. Since it’s a bit off the beaten track, you’ll need to have your own transport as public transport isn’t available.

Sometimes flights are arranged at short notice, and occasionally they may need to be cancelled on the day due to changing weather conditions. We know this can be frustrating, but we’re at the mercy of the elements. That said, we always do our best to give you a few days’ notice whenever possible.
