The RE/MAX hot air balloon is one of the most recognised corporate logos in the world, and we’ve been proud to fly it here in Scotland since 2001!
Who Are RE/MAX?
RE/MAX (short for “Real Estate Maximums”) is a global network of independently owned and operated estate agencies, with a presence in over 110 countries. Known for their innovation, professionalism, and dedication to providing outstanding service, RE/MAX has become a trusted name in the property market worldwide.
Why Does RE/MAX Use Hot Air Balloons?
The hot air balloon became the RE/MAX International company logo after a pivotal moment at a hot air balloon festival in New Mexico in 1978. What began as a simple publicity stunt quickly turned into a defining moment for the brand. The balloon’s visibility and impact impressed RE/MAX executives so much that they decided to adopt it as their official logo.
More than just a striking visual, the RE/MAX hot air balloon symbolises the company’s core values: independence, freedom, innovation, and enjoyment. It also reflects RE/MAX’s mission to always strive to be “Above the Crowd.”
The Largest Balloon Fleet in the World
Today, RE/MAX International boasts the largest hot air balloon fleet in the world, with 106 balloons regularly drifting across the skies in 26 countries. These balloons are an integral part of the RE/MAX identity, frequently featured at events, promotions, and in general advertising. Our own balloon is the only one in the UK and has even made several appearances on television!
